Founded in 1971, Enchoria is the world's only journal of demotic studies. Its stated aim is to promote the Egyptological speciality of demotic studies, especially through the first edition of demotic texts, which are usually illustrated with photographs on a scale of 1:1. An indispensable tool is the "Demotic Literature Survey", which provides quick, up-to-date and annotated access to all publications relevant to demotic studies. Coptology is another focus. Here, too, the focus is on the first edition of texts. In addition to scholarly essays, Enchoria publishes miscellanies and reviews. Unusually detailed indexes are one of the journal's assets.
