First publication of a fragmentary demotic papyrus from Tebtunis, probably from the 2nd century CE. The demotic text is written on the verso of a discarded Greek document. It contains a description of foreign regions, their agricultural assets and the habits of their inhabitants. In its genre, the text seems almost unique among Egyptian texts. Given ist resemblance to Greek ethnography, the question of foreign influence or even the translation of a lost Greek text has to be brought up.
